"War Dogs"

Written By: Honor

Disclaimers: Roses are red, violets are blue, the GW boys are mine, and that’s the truth!

Shigeki: You can’t rhyme worth a darn. And they aren’t yours.

Honor:…remind me. Why did I think getting a muse was a good idea?

Warnings: yaoi, some sexy scenes, romance, my odd humor, bit of language, bit of violence

Rating: NC-17

Betas: Velvet and Caitilin

Author’s Insane notes: Inspired by a story that actually happened to my mom. She told it to me often as I was growing up, so she can legitimately be blamed for the entire idea. And Wingnut requested a 2x3, which makes two people to blame. ^_^ I love having someone in mind to blame.

"War Dogs "

Chapter Epilogue

And for those that are not from the South but have lived here for a long time, all yall need a sign to hang on yalls front porch that reads "I ain't from the South, but I got here as fast as I could."

Duo came home from work whistling. Life really couldn’t get much better at the moment. He’d sold his house to Heero and Quatre and the paperwork had finished last week. It was really the only practical solution—Duo practically lived at Trowa’s house anyway, and the other couple needed a place of their own. This way, they were still close and easily within ‘visiting distance’ as Duo put it.

Lindsey was a thing of the past. Roughly three weeks before, Quatre, Heero and Trowa had sat down in front of a computer for several hours on end. Duo had no idea what they did—he wasn’t sure he wanted to know how they did it for that matter—but they managed to completely erase Lindsey. She wasn’t registered at the local bank anymore. She wasn’t in the electricity, water, sewage, or any other utility’s records. Even her cell phone didn’t officially exist anymore. The thing that scared Duo was that somehow those three had even erased her in Social Security.

Within five hours, Lindsey Parker no longer officially existed.

By five that evening, Lindsey had shown up at the house in absolute hysterics. Trowa had calmly met her at the door and told her she had two options; leave Duo alone and he’d undo everything or she could continue to plague Duo—and he could erase her completely.

There was a light in Trowa’s eyes when he said that—a grim certainty that he would follow through on his threat. Duo wasn’t entirely sure he believed it (he couldn’t think of his Trowa as a cold blooded killer) but Lindsey certainly did. She stammered out a promise to never darken their doorstep again, then fled in tears.

Duo’s life had been pleasantly Lindsey-less ever since.

“Hey King! And Kahn, of course.” Duo bent to properly greet both Shepherds, thinking again that Kahn really did look like a miniature of King. The puppies had been born eight weeks ago, and promptly snatched by various individuals. Wufei had kept one, Duo’s father had nabbed one, Quatre had absconded with one when no one was looking, and of course Duo had Kahn. So far they’d proven to be rather bright puppies with good personalities.

Now if Duo could just get it through Kahn’s head that his right ear was not edible, life would be fantastic.

The dogs were happy to see him, tails moving at an alarming rate back and forth. With a last pat, Duo straightened and called out, “Trowa?”

“Back here!”

Following the voice, he found his lover in the kitchen, with quite a stack of pamphlets, printouts, and a huge map spread over the kitchen counter. “What’s all this?”

Trowa greeted him with sweet kiss, which Duo appreciated, but he had to wonder why his lover was practically bouncing like a little kid at Christmas. “How would you like to go to San Francisco?”

Duo blinked. Had a trip been mentioned recently? Not that he could remember. “Er…sure, I guess. But why?”

The smile Trowa gave him in that moment was almost luminescent. “Because we can get married there.”

Duo’s heart skipped a beat. He hadn’t heard that right…his doubts faded at the look in Trowa’s eyes. No, he had heard that right. A dazed grin started taking over his face. “That’s a pretty good reason,” he answered huskily. “When?”

“Two weeks?”

“I assume we’re taking the guys with us, as witnesses and all that.”

“They’d kill us if we eloped,” Trowa agreed. Unable to contain himself any longer, he grabbed Duo and hugged him tightly, so happy that he had agreed that he couldn’t hold in his elation. “I love you.”

“I love you too,” Duo answered. He returned the hug just as fiercely, and just knew that he was going to be grinning like a deranged idiot for the foreseeable future.

Apparently, he was wrong. Life really could get better.
